Does anyone know of a place other than the dealer that works on Land Rovers in Knoxville, TN? Thanks |

Andrew, I live in Knoxville and have only found one person besides the dealer that will work on them. Webster Motors on Broadway, about a mile or so from 640 on the right. I don't have their number handy though. I've been doing all my work myself and have learned alot. What is the problem you are having, and do you have a D1 or DII? Hope that helps ya.. Later. Robert, I have a '98 disco. I live on campus so Broadway isn't to far. I also like to fix things myself if at all possible. I spent two hours replacing my battery. The original didn't have a handle so i had to call some assistance to lift it out of the car. My problem is described in the Conversation '98 Disco Cuts off at idle. Some say maybe a fuel pump, altenator. Im not sure. But you might want to check it out and see if you have ever had the same symptoms. |

I've only experienced a similar problem and it was when my battery was DEAD DEAD, not to be confused with just dead. I had someone jump me off and I went over by Sears West Town on my way home, barely made it there, it was acting really badly. Best of luck to ya, I know that the dealer here in Knoxville is not really the best to deal with, from my personal experiences. However, Earnie in parts is one Hell of a nice guy, and has actually worked with me on prices. Some parts he can treat me better than others. Anyhow, I'm a UT grad myself, what's your major? My major was Environmental Science & Natural Resources.. pretty obvious from my fragments and run ons that I wasn't an English major huh? Best of luck to you.. If you want to go up to Royal Blue sometime let me know. I've been many a places up there with my Disco being completely stock. Lift is on it's way though, so tires soon to come as well.. Peace.. Today i took off the stepper motor and gave it a good clean and ran some fuel injection cleaner after getting some gas. So far so good, keeping the fingers crossed. I would definitly be interested in doing a little off-roading, especially the kind thats not going to put my mostly stock disco in the shop. By the way, im studying accounting right now. I had a wrangler before this car and was able to do a little off-roading and trail riding. You can send me an email anytime you are going to go make a run. Take it easy |

There are two brothers in Knoxville that each own British car garages, the Boatmans.... Kenny's shop is up towards Halls. Scotty's shop is in East Knoxville on 11E at Chilhowee Hills. Kenny's shop, I was only by there once, but it was a neat shop. His business was called "British Cars and Parts of Knoxville". Scotty's shop, "British Cars and Parts Limited" (w/o the Knoxville in the name) is located in the back of a bar.... had more than a couple of beers there... his shop is a pretty interesting place, he's got some rather hard-to-find British cars tucked away in there. Both of them are more of the MG/Triumph/Jag kind of guys, but they know enough about British cars to be able to help out with most things that you might need done. FWIW..... -L |

They had the shop in East Knoxville together, and then Kenny got married, moved up towards Maynardville, and opened the shop in Halls so he wouldn't have to drive as far. I *think* his shop is out on Cunningham, if I remember correctly. Scotty does a bit of construction work, dealing with FireStop (commercial building fireprrofing installation), so he keeps some flexible hours... sometimes you catch him, sometimes not.... It's been awhile since I've talked to them... I lived in Knoxville during the '98-'99 year, used to plot what to do to help my Series along over a beer with Scotty.... Anyway..... I'd expect that Scotty's still got a stack of MGBs and TR-6s outside of the shop.... Kenny *might* have moved his shop, I'm not sure though, I heard something about it, but I can't remember what.... -L |

Just looked it up in the yellow pages, it is on Neal Road, which would be the next road over from Cunningham, behind McDonalds/Burger King and the exciting Halls Cinema 7. I'll have to give that guy a shout sometime. Thanks for the info Leslie. You should come down sometime and we'll go up to Royal Blue or something. Later.. Robert |

I'll have to.... right now, I'm re-building the Series (or rather, gathering funds for parts for it), and since I let my Disco go, I'm currently off-roadless, until the 88" is in shape again. Then, I'll find another Disco after that, too.... But, I might be able to collar Jeff into something one day, so I can ride shotgun....
