My 1999 D1 seems to have a little seepage from the steering mechanism. Is there an easy fix?

Get new hose clamps first. Common problem.

Listen to Axel the replacemnt of the clamps or hoses will alleviate the problem. Go to Atlanticbritish.com has a special on these hoses..

Clean the area up first and find out where your leak is coming from, try tightening-up clamps before you start to buy and replace. If in fact your leak is coming from a seal, try using some Lucas PS additive. Mine was leaking until I added Lucas.

Dont add the Lucas additive to the PS system its too thick for the Pump seals to handle, Its great for the Oils sum and diffs, But not for the PS system

easy like Sunday morning

Add a few tablespoons of some dot 4 Castrol LRNA instead of the Lucas stuff. It worked great for me. Anybody out there hear of a down side to this fix other than it not working cause the box is leaking just way too much for any fix other than a new box ? ? ?

Dee, I disagree with "it's too thick". I added this over 20K ago, no problems. Seals are fine, dry and the PS Pump actually got quiet. So, if you have something to tell us that would indicate the advised non-use of this product, do tell please.

Bruce, i have sold quite a few PS pumps, there premature faliures caused by heavy additives, Merdian who used to rebuild them advised against additive use also. I run it in my Motor Home and I use the Oil additive with all my Oil changes. I am a Lucas fan just not in the LR PS pump and @ 350 a pop id watch what i thow in there

I can see that point Dee when someone uses thicker additives with more than 50% mix. When I added Lucas to my PS, it was only a few CCs just as an experiment, however, it did the job so I guess the volume I used was not enough to cuase a seal pressure failure.

Bruce,

Good point on moderation, Most think a little is ok so the whole bottle must be good.
Ill keep that in mind and a few CC should not hurt

Cheers
