Does the genuine workshop manual cover everything or just about everything? Does it have a specific focus? i.e. engine, electrical, etc...

It covers just about everything. From how to do an overhaul of your engine or transfer case to how to remove the door trim and dimensions of the chassis and body.

It covers most of it. There is a separate engine overhaul manual, and a separate electrical troubleshooting manual. The general factory workshop book covers them both peripherally, but the others are needed for detail work.

Regardless, the workshop manual should be considered a must if you plan on keeping the Disco....

FWIW...

Ditto :)

But while the DII has a seperate electrical manual I didn't know there was a seperate overhaul manual for the DII

yes. The CD (RAVE) has it all. The only down side to the CD is that I wouldn't want to touch my laptop when I work on the Disco but you can always print out all 1,400 pages (D2) for the service manual (or just the pages you need for the job). I also think some of the CD's have an expiration date on it but I'm not sure.
