Good question Blake, I was about to post the same question! I have a '95 Disco and OME Heavy springs all around. I also have Bilstein shocks and I just removed my rear sway bar. I was wondering if I'm going to need either rear cones (Rovertym) or Spring Retainers (EE). I was also wondering if I'll need extended brake lines. Help??? |

I agree with Ho. In both situations, the shocks are limiting the down travel. You don't need cones, extended brake lines, or anything. Removing the anti-sway bars in the rear will not increase the down travel. Thanks, Mike B. |

I agree with Ho and Mike. Wait, if you get enough flex that you get a spring unseated, just jack it up with a hi-lift and push it back in. Its not a big deal. If that does happen then you know you need them, but until then, I wouldn't worry. Be aware, but don't worry about it. Just my thoughts, I could be wrong. |

With the N76s you will need retainers (or cones) and maybe extended brake lines. I found the N76s to be too soft and am looking for an alternative rear shock. |

I installed 10" fox shocks with 2+ inch RTE springs using RTE shock mounts. Wife took the car out west when we moved and I didnt have supervision over the Rover for 6 weeks. My first day back I looked at the rover to find the rear d/s spring out of its upper bucket and rubbing against the tire! One weekend in Baja and rest of the time on the street, but I wish I had installed retainers, would have saved a tire... Play it safe, buy retainers... |

I have the N76s...with OME 762 springs in the rear: You DEFINITELY need Either retainers (defeats the purpose of the long travel shock/hard to put on the top of the 762s) Or cones. FWIW, I have RTE cones and the thing just works fine. As for the softness of the shocks, it is true, however, that softness is excellent offroad! Nadim |

Nadim, I agree about softness being good to a point. The N76s seem to do well for me on the local trails under slower speed and a day load. Under faster trails and a fuller load there is a bit too much bouncing in the rear. I also think the N76s cause some issues in front to rear modulation/rocking on the highway. I cannot reccomend the N76s for the heavy Disco, will soon sell them and look elsewhere . . . I'm thinking Rancho all round |

I wouldn't recommend Ranchos over OME. I'm on my second set of rears (9234). Both of the rears started leaking after only 6 months and had to be replaced. The other problem is that there doesn't seem to be a decent setting for the rear. Setting 4 works fine up front, but I can't seem to get the right setting in the rear. I was actually thinking of getting the N76s for the rear, but now I'm not sure. It seems that there are too many issues to resolve just to get a couple more inches of flex. |
