So if the rear window doesn't go down anymore.......started becoming intermittant, sometimes going down, sometimes going down in small increments, then not at all.......what can this be if it isn't the circuit board under the passanger side dash, behind the glove box. Checked that. This is a 98 Disco I. |

Check the window regulator and motor. Are you hearing any sound, or just No operation? You can rule out the switch by opening the center console and switching the wiring for one of the other windows. Mike Cox |

No sound at all. Nothing happens at all anymore. I am thinking it may be the regulator. Where is that located? |

Inside the door itself. I know it sounds odd, but the regulator is actually the metal assembly that raises and lowers the window itself. The motor is attached to the regulator by 4 torx screws, I don't recall the size, but one of those small ratcheting devices (90 degree type, from Sears)with screwdriver bits came in real handy here. You pop the rear door panel off by sliding a large screwdriver or special tool between the door and the panel and then pry the panel away from the door frame. Be careful when doing this, the little red (plastic) pieces that connect the door and the cover tend to break easily, but don't lose any sleep if you break one , I think I bought 10 used ones from a salvage yard for something like $2. Once you have the panel off, you will have access to the door frame and can put a meter or test light to the motor connections. then, work the switch to see if you have voltage going to the motor. If no voltage, then the problem will be somewhere between the switch and the motor (You tested the switch, correct?). From what I have been reading on this board, it is not uncommon for the nylon bushings that connect the regulator to the window bracket. (on the rear windows) to break. The front window regulators tend to break at a 1/2 moon shaped gear that drives the window regulator up and down. It's all really pretty simple once you start looking at it and get the terminology.
