Hmmm , you spend some time under these bastards and get burned up a little here and there from doing shit to them . Then spend hours out on the trail making sure they get home safe and nothing happens to them (Shuddup Rob I was tired and pissed off). They become like your children....

Yes the Disco made it here in one piece and the COL didn't come on until Oregon. They said it was only doing 45MPH up the Contientel Divide and they used premium the whole way. "They" being the brother and sister that drove it out. Nice kids, but they didn't have a clue about it (although the guy was smart and stopped when the light came on and checked all fluids). He litterally asked "What do you do with a car like this?"
As Jeremy stated it did fail the emissions check the first time but he cleared that so hopefully we'll have it legally licensed here soon.
I see what you meant about the "Let's see if this shit works" Hi-Lift mount. :-) Doesn't look like it's going anywhere.
Matt, I can't take time off work for a while. I have a trip out to Idaho next week (now where did I leave my Jack Boots and I Hate The World shirt???) and then a trip to PA a week after that. Gone are all my vacation days for a while. Hmmmm.....my wife does have a bridal shower to go to this Saturday and I might be able to do some exploring then.
The other good news is my wife really likes driving the Disco so I guess it can stay.

PPS The driveaway company said they were getting about 5 offers an hour one day to drive it across. |

no i was requested to take the ones off the windsheild, but then peter tell's me he expected to see britany anyway.
pokemon is still there ;)
any issues with vib's peter? keeping weight in the back is key. those kids probably had enough luggage to prevent it.
my wireing job is spectacular, it's peter's just derelict, he done stuck pliers in a fuse without taking the + lead off and got burnt ;)
range rover will be styling large buy the end of summer. i've been wrenching everyday after work. yinz will be impressed.

Spegg-tac-ular??? Peter tried pulling a fuse that was stuck in there with foil and the whole holder came out of its mount and the really short lead came off. :-) But I digress.
It's really going to hurt you to know Pokemon will probably come off in favor of a PCRC sticker. My daughter's too young to appreciate it and I'm too old. Well, not OLD old.....just old.
And to defend myself, a quote from Rob on the stickers up front after I asked him to take them off, which I never refuted, "yep, was going to do that anyway... well except for
the britney spears sticker" So you see, I think he couldn't really part with Britney and didn't want to have to go back to the store and stand next the 12 year olds to pick out a new one. Besides, isn't she something like 20 now???
Most joking aside, since this isn't eBay and we don't have "feedback" numbers, I would want to say that Rob Davison is one up front and honest person to deal with through this whole purchase. He spent a lot of time answering my myriad of questions everything showed up just as he had described (a short video tour helped as well). in the words of so much eBay feedback: A WONDERFUL SELLER!!! QUICK COMMUNICATION!!! A TRUE ASSEST TO DWEB!! A+++++!!!!!!

PS I continue to have good luck with the "Buy a Rover and get CASH BACK" rebate program. When I bought the 89 RR I have, the guy left over $5 in cash and coins in it.
Now when I went looking under the seats of the Disco, I found 20 Austrian Shillings!! Ok, so it's only $1.40.
I doubt you get this kind of rebate with buying new Rovers.
BTW, do you want the pack of gum that was under the seat Rob? :-) |

damn, i searched high and low for anything. just before gary pulled away i saw a few things and grabbed them, then went back over everything.
hour later they call and tell me they found my wallet. it was jammed in the visor up top and i forgot
now you come up with one of my souvineers from autralia! and the pack of gum. well consider it a good luck charm and keep it in there.
dont make me dig up the email, but you said you wanted the stickers of the front cause it would obstruct your view, what a sissy i thought.
oh well, hey if you watch that video, when i show the gps you can see i have a bw picture of cristina a. on the dash.. i decided to switch to a local girl.

i flashed my lights at some little bugger w/ $G wares all over his disco - a nice change to the flocks of soccer mom versions in town - didn't even wave back! He must have been thinking - "hey - what the hell is that Trooper doing flashing his lights at me?"
And which one of you has the yellow 3 spoke spare painted like a smiley? "Hi from Ballard".
My "stealth" rover goes by completely unnoticed from it's Pacific Place cousins . . . and sometime soon (ya know, when i get a *job*) will be joining y'all on the trail to help you put things into perspective ;)

One pack of nearly new gum, one nearly finished pack of gum, a lighter wedged close to the power input for the amp, 3 gas receipts, some odd paper, the Austrian Shilling, and some odd lightbulb with holder and a short wire going no where, were all under the passenger seat next to the amp.
And that conversation bit I pasted IS the whole email about Britney. I wanted the stuff on the windshield taken off and you said you were leaving Britney and I said nothing further. :-) Although my wife is glad you took her off since she would be staring at her on most trips.

upgrade?!! . . . . AS IF!
The rumour you heard of might have been a little twisted - she was trying to convince me that I should buy a 2003 rangie (gasp!) and sacrifice Gatsby (reel!) as part of the down payment, and be the first in puget sound to pinstripe a 70k truck sometime next year.
By her reasoning, I will have paid out approximately the same amount of money per month in repairs and upgrades (mostly repairs) on the the ole laddie as I would purchasing a new one. Part of this was spurred by a "new engine" conversation LOL
BUT - wait a minute . . .
NEVER! Is she insane?? (am "I" insane???!!) Its paid for, and I love it. Two qualities that are great to have in a vehicle in this economy (and trying hard to ignore the rest)
time now for some wheeling of the cycling variety - a little climb up Dravus and subsequent tour through Magnolia sounds good!

ohh, and it's austrian shilling that makes more sence, i was there to,, hehe... damn austria was nice. went there for easter one year.
odd light bulb with holder concerns me.
gas receipts... funny thing about gas receipts is i Always get one, and i throw them all over the truck, that way if i'm murdered or something and they find m,y car, it will give the police a place to investigate and see if anyone saw me etc..
