well, the short answer is that it is generally not legal to have this vehicle in the US. Exception might be for an embassy staff member or similar person who can title in the US and then resell?

Or it is titled in the US as a different (older) vehicle?

Five Cylinder Diesel? 42 MPG? I don't believe it. Must be some sort of a misprint.

Bill, if it's brand new it'll be a Td5 unless it is a ROW spec model. 42MPG is probably using British gallons.

Im missing something how is it brand new and imported ? Or is it a remanufactured, recycled refurbished one. Looks good, but way to $$$ for a Land Rover in my opinion...

It can be brand new and imported because they still make the 110 overseas.

I too am baffled by the US title.....

729 registered Discoweb users divided by 42,000 equals to $57.61 each. I think we should all chip in and get about 2 weeks of use each.

Hey can I get 4 weeks since I came up with the idea?

I can get you a white 1993 D110 with a 3.9 V8 (gas) and 60,000 miles on the clock for under $75,000. Very clean Arizona truck. Email for pics & details if interested.

i have posted something on the defender section about defenders with us titles..

unless this is brought in under a diplomat or something it is illegal, also its not illegal for that diplomat to sell it to somebody, nore is it illegal for a person in the us to buy it..however it is illegal for him to have it registered and drive it on any street at anytime...

the only 110 that you can bring in is a 1993 110 and even at that it must meet the NAS truck exactly with the roll cage from saftey devises..yes there have been some RI that just fudge the paper work

at of cost of 15-20k for importation to make the truck legal its really not worth it for a 110..i here the spanish trails 110 was 36k total,...i spent less than that on my 91 G wagen btw..

everybody talks about how easy it is to get anything past customs...well great good job, but you those people are forgetting or simply do not know that the real player in how legal your truck is, is the national highway traffic safety administration..they deside what you can and can't drive on our steets

here is a link..

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ELIG0206.html

under vehicle eligibility list it clearly states 1993..if its not on the list, then its not legal to bring in PERIOD..

just because you see it over here does not make the truck legal..

also titles are issued by states not by the federal government so its easy to get a title for anything depending on you state ie there are some states where you do not need to show any federal documentation -- this truck may be titled in one of those states - however it does not make the truck legal just because you have a us title...

ASK the seller if it is US DOT and EPA approved..and to prove it...

It's in Washington D.C., which leads me to believe diplomat. Also, it sold, so don't worry about buying it unless you track down the guy who won the auction.

The only other possibility is that D. C. has differnt titling laws.

The best way to import a 110 for you guys is to build one and title it as a kit car or home made jobby. To be honest though, you're probably all better off with a Disco. If you honestly consider the use that your vehicle gets, most of you would do better with what you have already.

The vehicle is up for sale again. If you look in the section "view seller's other auctions," their is still a chance for everyone interested. Let me know if someone here gets it. Thank you.
