hello people ! how can i remove the gear oil pan to replace the gasket (i have a leak) ? one of the screws is unreachable. thanks |

If you mean the pan on the transfer gear box, the top three are a real bitch to get at. It took some time but use a good old box wrench. I just did the same repair last week. Also as double protection, use a gasket sealer. good luck |

sorry, but I'm talking about the automatic trasmition oil pan . one of the screws is kind of concealed by a piece of metal supporting the gear i think. what do i do ? |

If it is a V8 - you must first drop the exhaust Y-pipe and then unbolt the cross member and slide it forward or remove it. Bill |

Taibier I checked my work shop manual. It says you need to remove the catalytic converter and the chassis cross member(the peice of metal supporting the gear) This was in the TDI section of the shop manual. I have a V8 and have never performed the repair. You are on your own. If you plan on doing your own repairs, I suggest you buy the work shop manual. It is a very good investment. good luck |
