I took this post from General to Technical for more traffic.

Warranty Gold 5yrs/100k miles = $3433
It covers 99% of items/repairs including gaskets. The 1% not covered is wear and tear like tires and brakes.

Warranty Village/Sam's 4yrs/100k = $2909
Coverage "seems" the same. They are not being shady or anything like that. I just did a basic comparison.

I know that obvious would be Sam's but Warranty Gold seems so reputable.
I'm about to call Hal Moses. I need some feedback. I know some use Hal but how has he been?
Thanks

Well I haven't used Hal yet. I just got a '96 Disco and have been teetering back and forth on whether or not my potential warranty through him is worth buying.

My two cents.
Don't use Hal. IMHO.
I used him. He represents Buyers Choice.
Not one claim has gone smoothly.

In fact it has gone so bad that I haven't even been able to get anything paid by them yet.

They're haggling over lifters right now with my shop. Been 4 days.

I just spoke with Hal. He is sending a contract out to me. I will read over it thoroughly. He seemed pretty honest and I asked every "catch" question that I could think of. I hope the contract looks good. Still looking for more feedback.

It all "looked good" to me too.
That's what sales are all about.
I did my research.

Unfortunately my experience is that there is no substance or quality behind the promises.

If you choose the policy from Hal, I hope it goes better for you than it's going for me.

That's another two cents.
I'll shut up now.

Don't do it! Hal sent information on whats covered and when I received the final paperwork things change. So far nothing has been cover for the five items i went in for.

Well I got one from him in 1999 and so far the replacement goes as follows.

Rebuilt ••••••
All new lower end seals
2 new abs sensors
1 window motor
2 rear brake calipers

I guess it matters on which warranty he is selling but he should be rather helpful..

Just drill him with questions.

Ray, which policy do you have and can you give its coverage? Which company is your policy through?

A note on Warranty Gold...

i had nothing but good experiences with them. They even "sprung" for new springs, the repair shop unfortunately only carried OME so that's what got replaced.

Also had all abs sensors replaced 2 times over, power steering pump/hoses replaced, various engine/transmission seals replaced.

Had a problem once when their sub-insurer refused to pay more than $75/hr labor rates, but the dealer charged $88. Called Warranty Gold and they told me to just send them a copy of the invoice and they reimbursed me the difference. They said they were dropping that particular sub-insurer as they'd been having many many complaints.

I bought my extended warranty for my '95 disco in 1997; 6years/100K miles everything covered no deductible for only $1500. The very best purchase I have ever made in my life.

Thats a great deal. Unfortunately a lot of the companies like API, ASN etc. that carried Rover before have now dropped them because of high repair costs.

My friend works with trying to find really good prices on warranties for high end cars and advised me Rover has been delisted from many groups.

That same warranty that you purchased in 97 would probably run you double now if even available.
