Loading the rig today, moving DS seat forward, packing and stuff and the damn fuse blows...again. This is my 4th 40amp fuse to go in the last 3 months. It's the one under the seat. Any ideas? Could a dirty seat switch cause a short and blow the fuse?

Sounds like a short somewhere to blow a fuse of that size, but no clue where to look other than the switch or motor.

Well, I just discovered it may be the motor for the recline. Playing around, I have the seat all the way forward and it will not recline back and I've blown my last fuse. I've now rendered the truck undrivable, great.

Is there a manual override adust for the electric recline?

Does your driver seat only work when the driver door is open and the cig lighter, vanity lights not work now....Let me know

No, it's definitely the recline motor. The seat will move forward and back and up and down but it will not recline forward or back now. Lights and cig lighter continue to work as normal.

Anyone know if I can switch the pass and drivers seats?

Fixed it! Okay, dumbass user here. I had heated the motor to the point where the thermal cutoff had turned on. After waiting for it to cool down apparently it resets, all is working now.

How does that blow the fuse though?

I bought a 96 last week and had to drive 800 miles back home. The driver seat would only move forward...not back. After screwing with for a while I had managed to push the seat up so far that I was almost eating my knees.

Come to find out the switch was bad...which was caused by the rails sticking (the switch overheated try to push to hard and would just die) Is there a way to manually adjust the seats...should this happen again?
