i was thinking about getting the underbody winch that dap sells...but the problem i have with it is that its lower....approach angle is one issue i have to decide on...but what about water...when i ford stuff...the winch is more likely to get water...or to be submerged...is this ok...lil' help...thanks guys.. i have a '95 disco thanks |

Electricity and water don't mix but take a look at an ARB bumper for a D2. My D2 w/ARB and X9 winch get wet all the time and it still works. You just need to be sure you keep up with the care for the winch. |

The DAP winch mount is pretty decent. Go to the TexasRovers site, in their Tech section. Their's an article there. As long as your not always sumerging the winch, then as Al said, keep up with the maintenance and use it once in a while. |

I called WARN on the issue before. I had purchased one of ther military winches from an estate sale and i noticed that it was waterprofed. so i asked how I could waterproof my warn 9000I winch he said all they do is dip the motor casing in plasti dip you know the stuff for dipping tool handles and than the run a beed of sealer between the motor housing and winch housing and that is it. he said that the gear housing is sealed fairly good and the rest if the winch would drain. |
