Looks like a decent CB radio but what makes one CB that much better than the other? They all seem pretty poorly made to me. Some just seem to have more bells/features. I'm not trying to knock down the radio. I'm just wondering.

Take a look at these http://www.icomamerica.com/land_mobile/mobileuhf/ and compare them to any 4w 27MHz CB sold. Does anyone make a mil spec CB radio?

I was looking at those Galaxy CBs and was wondering what is the difference between an amature radio and a CB? I see that they have under the CB section a couple 40 channel models and a few 10watt 320 channel models that they call amature radios. Is it just the wattage that makes it an amature radio? Would you need an amature radio licence to use one of those 10watt models and would you be able to talk to other CBs with one? I don't know a damn thing about CBs or Amature radios so that's why I ask.

CB and Ham radios are licensed differently by the FCC. The radio needs to be type approved for the service it's used in. For example CB can only legally transmit at 4 watts. Amateur radios can only legally be used on amateur bands. I know there are people out there with radios strong enough to melt paint off your car on CB but they're not doing it legally. Hams do need to get a license but they can't legally use a HAM radio to talk to a person on a CB. There are other "CB" bands opening up in the US other than the old AM CB we all know. Some of these are...

MURS ~151 MHz (VHF) FM
FRS 462/467 MHz (UHF) FM

and another sudo "CB" is GMRS that will also work with FRS but with much greater power and abilities but requires a test-free license.
