Hello All, Many times I hear from my club and from the board that SLS and ACE are just fear and pestilence waiting to descend upon me. Is this true???? How many of you guys with ACE and SLS have had problems? Also, what of the guys with the tricked SLS sensor to give lift. Are the bags leaking? Like to know because I have 41k miles on my 2000 DII (ace/sls) and I'm considering getting an extended warranty soon. Thanks, appreciate any input. Emilio |

I have a D2 since early 1999 with ACE and SLS. No problems with either other than the ACE recall. I have my SLS lifted and no leaks. I wouldn't be suprised if someone lifted their SLS and installed OME shocks without the spacers and had their bags leak. The only issue I have with SLS is that it can get confused when you park or stop for a while in a non level surface when off road. If either system ever do fail I will easily convert to non-ACE or non-SLS but in the mean time I've been enjoying them both. |

Al, Didn't you do a write-up on how you put your spacers on in the last month or two? Here or somewhere else? I wanted to print that out but I forgot. You wouldn't have a link to it by any chance, would you? Kent |

I am running SLS w/o ACE and an approx. 2" lift. I had my SLS go out in Moab when the truck was 5 days old (it had no lift then). Other than that it has been flawless. I really like it because I do haul heavy loads and trailer from time to time. I also like the ability to jack it up when needed off road although I am at the shocks travel limit when I do. Like Al indicated, I would stay away from longer rear shocks, but I think some have taken the risk with no ill effects. I do off orad a lot though and don;t like to take chances. Curtis |

The dealer's been fighting with my brother's sls for over a week now. For some strange reason, they swapped out the compressor, thinking it was causing the leak. They've ordered a couple replacement air bags, so we'll see how it turns out. Otherwise, we're still sagging when engine is off. It's actually a pretty neat idea for load balancing. I'm just not terribly impressed by it since it is in the shop... chu |

ACE has givne us the most frequent problems of all the problems that we have experienced. (fulty pulleys, pipes bursting, noisy pipes, recall etc.) No problems with SLS, although I reckon that I just tempted fate!! www.worst4x4.freeservers.com |
