Has anyone made an internal roll cage for a D1 themselves and has pictures. I am thinking about making my own and am looking for good ideas from those that have gone before me. I have seen pics of the safety devices($$$) one that had the roof rack attached through the roof but as my garage doesn't give me the ability to put a roof rack on I don't plan on having a rack on permanently. So with that said does anyone have suggestions?

I am buying the Safety Devices cage mostly because it looks cool. In a serious roll it will make a big difference with a five point harness. The SD cage comes with a new glove box door because the pipe goes around the dash at that point. I would like to see how you will address the space problems that will occur. Please post your project as it moves along.

To put the SD cage in....dont you have to remove the roof and rear door? if not, how does it go in? ive been looking at the safety devices cage as well but dont know if its really worth the $1200....i have the SD cage for my series truck and it is very solid.

ErikS, You can put in a SD rollcage, and not put on a roofrack, FWIW.....

Will, AFAIK, no, you don't remove the roof or door. You slide in the bits, and mostly bolt together. If SD's cage is like their roll bars for Series Rovers, there are brackets that are welded down at the chassis, to which the feet are bolted through the floor to....

And, FYI, the US Distributor for Safety Devices' Land Rover products is David Gage at the Thatched Roof Garage.
