99 Disco II
While driving down the road, there are random clunks coming from near the transfer case i think. it usualy happens during some sort of momentum change. if this was my jeep i would say that it was a u-joint, but it does have the signs of a u-joint(no clunk when shifting to drive/reverse). it does it while on the interstate etc. not just at starts and stops. is there some kind of flywheel in the transfer case or some other joints that are doind this?

Sounds like one of your radius arm bolts are loose. Take a large ratchet and a handle extension and tighten them all. You will probably only get about an eighth of a turn, but that's all it takes.

ACE rig? Sometimes that valve block over there on the PS will make a "clunk" sound.

My guess is what Michael said. This is normal for an ACE vehicle and you'll get it at lower speeds.

ACE is the Active Cornering Enhancement. Just a fancy word for active hydraulic sway bars. It's an option on the Disco II. If you have it you'll notice 4 pipes running along the frame behind the front passenger side tire. ACE vehicles in 1999 also came with 18" wheels. What you describe sounds like the clunk of the ACE when it's working. It will keep the vehicle almost flat up to .4G's in cornering.
