got my roof rack from Chrisvon C. I stripped it and now I need help on how to paint it. I will use a paint gun (for the first time). I believe I need to prime it first and then paint it. Do I use automotive paint? or is there a special paint for roof racks that I need to get. Thanks

Well it should be powdercoated. If you wanna ditch that you need to get some sealer and some acrylic Enamel with a flattener additive. I dont recall the Dupont code for black off hand but a quart of the color a quart of reducer , the activator and the flattener is all you should need..

I just painted mine with the Rustoleum Truck bed liner and it works great!
It is a 2-part epoxy roll/brush on and is practically bulletproof.
I got it for around $90.00 at Lowes.

Kyle,

Thought about what you said ( I should powdercoat the roof rack) I called and found out it will be about $120. If I take into account the cost of paint my time and lack of experience in painting your idea is great. She will be powdercoated.

thanks

The guy that painted mine used a red primer first.
