When I purchased my 96 Disco, the previous owner had installed a FlowMaster exhaust. And honestly...it makes to much noise for my taste. Is there anyway to make less noisey, but still retain the benifits (is there a benifit???)

FWIW, IMHO,

I would go back to the normal exhaust set up or go with some fancy stainless set up for corrosion protection. A flowmaster on a Disco is kinda funny. Is there any real test data that proves lower engine temp and higher HP? You are not street racing are you?

Paul...I have no idea if there is any benifit from the flowmaster other than a lot of noise. The car had some other "mods" when I bought it. Including:

-Red dome light
-Blue neon lights under the dash and over the rear door
-About 5k worth of giant speakers and amps (I let him keep these)

Not exactly my taste...but nice for a good laugh

Any idea on what it would cost to refit with the old exhaust?

Not sure to be exact. Give Nathan a shout at www.discountrovers.com.

Do some research on corrosion protection though.

A high flow exhaust is actually gonna lower the numbers that you feel in the seat of your pants...Back Pressure is your friend.

I sure didn't notice any change in performance after I put on my Flowmaster. I just needed an exhaust at the time and since I am a hill billy I liked the sound of the Flowmaster.

Keep the Flowmaster! If you are very conservative, well you should get rid of it.

Not too long ago i put a 50 series flowmaster on mine, and i can kind of feel the difference off-line, nothing significant though....But i mainly got it for the sound....If you dont like the sound there really is no reason to keep it....
