If the AC is used for an entire tank of gas, how much will this effect the gas mileage? Or about how many MPGs does it take away?

Cheers,
Matt

Very little. In fact, if you drive down the highway with your windows open you will increase the amount of drag. The increased drag will pose a greater threat in consuming gas.

Besides, even if it costs you a couple of dollars at the pump . . . it's still worth it.

I agree with BW. From experience, I am surprised just how little a difference running the AC makes.

Yeah with an efficient vehicle you might notice some increase in fuel consumption, but with the disco (which rolls to a stop even down hill:)) it doesn't make much difference. And as BW says, who the frig cares?

Why does everyone complain about the MPG? Mine is an econobox compared to my last pig. '99 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4 with the 5.9L. I was getting around 11.5MPG and I'm much happier in the Disco.

I think you'd have an extremely hard time trying to deterine the impact of having the A/C. Running two tanks (one with, one without it on) you would have to many variable that would mess with the numbers. Just crank it and don't worry about it until it stops working...

Get a Sidekick if you want good MPG.
