This is a follow-up to the "I refuse to accept this can't be fixed question" After getting many good tips to PD my vibration troubles I happed to run over a nail left behind by contractors doing roofing work on my house last week. Contractor agreed to replace the tire (nail was to close to sidewall for a plug-repair). After the rear tire was replaced I would say 75% of the shimmy/dive line vibe went away. In addition to replacing the right rear tire, the left rear wheel balance was checked (I have had this done 3 or 4 times now) and the tech showed me it was not in balance and weights on the large rim/tire should be both on the inside & outside for proper balance. So, I am now left with a small passing vibration/shimmy as the truck (auto) goes into 3rd, normally around 38mph or so. With one side still having the orginal tire I am looking for a place that can load test/load balance that tire...I'll bet it will have a problem (Gooytear wranger hp stock tire with 14,000 miles on it) as well. I also plan to call LR Guilford & LR Poughkeepsie (which is now out of the LR business) and tell them thanks alot for the help & diagnosis of ••••••-lugging. I am very disappointed with LR and I had escalated this to a LR rep who drove the truck & supported the ••••••-lugging excuse. I hope with the other new rear tire I can think good thoughts of LR again instead of feeling like I purchased a 40,000 milk-shake machine.
