Currently I own the 96 disco SD. I love the truck, no problems, except for the regular maintenance. The ride could be bit more comfy, and we could use bit more room in the back. Would I be happy if I go with a RR? I found one for $13k with 77k on it. Keep in mind if it is not reliable as my Disco, I want no part of it.... |

Mostly the same stuff. Ditch the Air suspension trickery and fit some springs. It's got some more electics to go wrong, but mostly just intereior stuff like the heated/memory seats and such. Running gear is pretty similar, transfer case is different, but if you know how to maintain one, the other is about the same and uses the same tools. The LWB Rangie sure does ride nicely on the highway though. -P |

Are not the axles on the Rangie different? This isn't the classic Rangie he's talking about. Personally if you have a good D1 I would keep that over the RR4.0. Wasn't that the first year for the new body design? |

Yea, The axles and diff are different (stronger). And yes, that was the first year. But I'd suspect that any of the small faults would have long been dealt with by now, especially with the truck having been under warranty. -P |
