Well I just got the call from the dealership about the damage, here's the list:
Transmission
Both Catalytic Converters
Both o2 sensors
heat shield
Front Driveshaft
It's all covered under warranty, no questions asked. They also may have to do some work on the transfer case, but that will be covered also. They are also going to replace the u-joints in the Hookes Joint with greaseable ones. This is the 3rd DII that they have had in for the same problem.
It should be done by the middle of next week and they even offered a service loaner while my truck's being worked on.

Just called LR Charlotte. Taking vehicle by to see if they need to replace entire shaft or just the joints. As long as I say "there's a vibration", greasable joints will be installed under warranty. Truck has 46K miles on it. Once again, LR Charlotte comes through for me.

Hey Greg,
Glad to hear it, seems that they know there's any issues with the hookes joint....

All this talk of front driveshaft vibrations, how bad was it? It seems like there's always vibes, but is this something that is somewhat noticeable or very noticeable? You kinda got me thinking again.

Uhm, mine were bad enough that I could feel them in my office while my rig was in the parking lot.

To be honest, I recently have started to notice that between 65 and 70, I get a slight vibe and a kind of resonance. Above 70 it all goes away. Maybe this will help with that.

Hehe, well I guess I'm not quite that bad, yet. I've noticed vibes around 45-50 mph, and some more around 75-80mph.

It is nice to see a dealer do the right thing. Maybe this will become a TSB or recall issue at some point. Did they suggest the greaseable nipples or did you have to ask for them ?

As soon as I mentioned that DSII's were getting a rep for the front shaft, my service rep said yes, there was a problem, and if the customer complained about a vibe, the joints would be replaced. He also informed me that there was not an official recall yet, and repairs were being done only if the customer complained.

Mine started with a small klunk when I shifted into gear, then a slight vibration, at about 40mph. greaseable u-joints are available...I'm having them installed on the new front shaft...Like Greg said, it's not offical, but my service guy said the same thing...
