My 94 disco Has a T-Box that whine's at any speed, it also leaks. I saw the artical on changing the seals & bearings not shure if that would stop the noise. I think its the T-box , when I put my hand on the shifter & give it some pressure I can change the pitch of the whine. The vehicle has 110K. Any input would be greatly aprecaited Jason |

My 94 was the same...they DO whine anyway...but mine improved by adding Lucas Oil Stabilizer about 50:50 with EP90 gearoil...it also stopped the leaks completely!!!! No more topping up at all in the last 15000 miles!!! Pete 94Disco sold yesterday 99 DII |

Jason, Whatever you do, keep it topped up. It cost me well over $800 to get a new transfer box, even though I replaced it myself. Did the whining stop/decrease after topping up? Is it leaking from the front or rear shaft? If neither, clean it up really well, then check often to see the source. Then let us know so we can help you troubleshoot. Javier '94 Disco w/136K miles |
