at 9000 miles they have "cupped" and make a lot of noise...replaced under warranty OK but I see a comment from a d2 owner on the tire rack website to the same effect...are these tires really that lousy???? |

The Pirelli ST is a direct size fit. Should be a better tire. |

To answer your question directly, THE HPs SUCK. You are not the first nor the last to have them cup in under 10,000 miles. They are probably ok tires on a lighter vehicle, but for some reason LR thinks they should be on the disco, which they should not. Try to get the dealer to trade you for some Michelins, the other tire that comes factory on discos. I drove my HPs 34,000 miles and they rode terribly the whole way. Now I have BFG A/Ts with a more aggressive and better tread pattern which makes half the noise (and look better). my 2 centavos Chris |

I had the same problems with the HPs on my '00 DII. After 25K they were so bad I called Goodyear. They asked that I take it to a certified GY dealer for inspection. In the end they gave me 50% credit on a new set of tires. I got GY new Fortera. 90% of my driving is on the road so the pattern was not an issue. Result: The road noise is dramtatically reduced from the HP or any Michelin clad loaner I have driven. I now have 12K on the Fortera with no cupping. --Steve |
