I have recently got two Hella 4000 lights that I have mounted to the roof rack. I just got the wiring harness and tried to hook it up yesterday, but ran into problems. I hooked up the plastic connectors to each of the lights, those connectors have 3 wires running from them, one ground, which I just hooked to the rack - Question 1, is this a proper ground. 1 wire came from the positive I assume, and one was a yellow wire I think, which I didnt hook up, Question 2 , do I need to hook them up. All those wires came from one side of the relay, and on the other side, one wire hooked up to the battery - red, another hooked up to the ground, which I found a screw coming from the body, hooked it up there, and another which is green. Question 3, do I need to hook this one up, and if so where? Thanks, Will |

Will, Unless you have a bare metal to metal contact between the roof rack and roof, the rack is not a good ground. Didn't you get a diagram with the harness? Carl |

Hello, I just installed the hella four thousands onto my roof rack yesterday. The yellow wires are useless. I pulled them out at the light. I used the yellow wire and extended it onto the ground wire so I could get the ground wire back into the engine compartment. I then disconnected the switch and ran it through my fog lights. This way I do not have add a switch onto my dash. I just hit the fog light switch and they come on. I used the hella wiring kit. Alot of wires were way to long (you have to trim them) or I did not need them. Make sure once you install the system you put split flex tubing around the wires. That way it looks professional without wires going everywhere. Good luck. Email me if you need more help. [email protected] Jim D. - San Diego |
