I am thinking about getting some BFG A/T KO in a 245/70x16 size for my 2000 Disco II. Has any one tried this size of tire on a Disco II with no lift. I eventually plan to add a OME lift, but a while after I get the tires.

That should fit no problem. My D2 came stock with 255/65. I now run 265/75 BFG AT KO's, and only had to move the front fender wall a tad forward to fit perfectly.

I've got 245/75R16 tires on my Series I Disco, without a lift. Needed an unnoticable amount of trimming. Don't think a DII would need to be trimmed... FWIW....

Mitch,

My first set of DSII BFG A/T ko's pre-OME was the 255/70/16. They looked/fit perfect with the stock suspension and stock front bumper. Plus, they are made for an 8" rim, unlike a 245 which has a recommened max rim width of 7.5".

Barry,

The Trek DIIs were wearing 245/75R16 tires.

FWIW,

yes,

Quite a few DSIIs run a 245/75/16 MT...perhaps because that is the only size available in most brands before going "big" with a 265/75/16.

IMHO having a smaller(narrow) than recommended tire on a rim is not ideal if you plan to air-down often. Also, the correct width tire will help protect the rim from rock carnage.
