Is there a company out there that makes an adapter that will go from the round 7 pin connector to the flat 4 pin connector for my 95 Disco. I prefer not to do the "cob" job that's in the tech section. I went to an LR stealership and the guy had no idea what I was talking about. I JUST WANT A FRIGGIN' 4 or 5 FOOT HARNESS! A BUNCH OF WIRES!! Is this too much to ask?? Does any other vehicle use the same connector?? |

This is a hot topic, and many people have opted to mess with U-Haul, Scotchloks, crimping, and tape... to each his own I guess. Me - I dropped the cash and got the wiring kit from Atlantic British. I figure the wiring on a Disco is bad enough, why mess with it!! $109 for the harness and converter, 4-to-4 extension harness, 2" receiver slug, nice 2" chrome ball, hitch pin and clip, and a tube of grease. Popped out the knockout under the passenger's rear taillight, plugged it in and drove away. 10 minutes and watertite. If you choose to do it the other way you can probably do a search and find it right away. There have been some very good and very detailed methods posted in the past... Hope this helps, Chuckster |

Yes, there is an adapter that goes from round to flat. I have one and use it with my '97 D1. If I get a chance I'll take a pic of it. I got it from a local business that puts on hitches. Mark |

Its called a "6-way adapter" and is made by "Phillips". Its about 3.3 inches long.

Damn...I've seen that 6 pin connector everywhere, but I think my 95 has 7 pins. I probably forgot how to count....time to go out to see really how many I have... |

I just bought a generic hookup and tested each circuit for power. IE took my 12v LED tester and turned each signal on then plugged in the appropriate wire. No big deal. Used it for many hours so far without fault. Extra wires I believe are for power assisted brakes. I have a 95 Disco. |

Nope, my 95 has a 7 pin connector...I wonder why some have 6 pins and some have 7? Oh well, I guess a chop job is in order. Damn. |

There IS a 7-pin available, even in a genuine LR box, too.... but, you can find the 7-pin elsewhere, too.... just keep looking.... Note, at least the one on my '99 Disco, was actually made by Hella..... FWIW... -L |

Go to your local wal-mart. They have 7-pin round connectors. Use that, then get a 7-pin round to flat 4 converter. End of story. Done. Fin. |

Kingfish...ever look at those round 7 pin connectors at WalMart? They use flat pins, not round ones. They're for RV's |

I just finished my harness this weekend as specified in the tech section. It was simple and easy and no problems. I got it all tucked up and mounted nicely. Works like a charm. |
