How often do ign. coils go bad? Would failure to start on the first crank be a symptom of one on its way out? Also is there a reasonably priced replacement (Kragen/NAPA part #)? Thanks

Look for green corrosion around the seams and cracks in the body. Dont expect good performance out of one that has 100+k on it.

I would check the cap plugs wires rotor first.

Is the fuel pump original?

Ron,
New cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Pump is original, but seems to be running fine (here it pressure up, no problems while driving).
