Well, I've had the tires on for a total of 5 days now, and have put about 1000 miles on them. I've calculated that I'm getting approximately 14.5 on the interstate, and about 11 or so around town. Is this what everyone else is getting? Before, with the stock Michs I was getting 14 city and 17 interstate. I need another set of wheels to stick these m/ts on. RRC wheels will fit the D1 correct? |

Yes, RRC wheels will work, even Series rims. One thing to note, usually, changing tire size to a 245/75 or the 235/85 will actually bring your speedometer closer to accurate than the stock 235/70 tires. FWIW... -L |

Ive had mine on about 5 days too, havnt had to fill up again yet but I should be able to tell my my mpg in a day or so. I think you are right, RRC wheels should fit a D1 |

yeah, my mileage is right about on like that. 10-11 city, 13-14 highway. stock gears. but have never really seen the mileage that some people get on this board. |

The speedo is very close to accurate now. I had my wife follow behind on the way home while we were both on the cell phone. When my speedo showed 55, my wife's in the Civic was showing 53. So, basically I'll never go past 75 on my speedometer anyway, so never over about 80mph. I got up to 90 a few weeks back and that just did Not feel natural in the Disco. Had a '97 Prelude which I ignorantly took up to a top speed of 147, that was all she had, going downhill. I know that I was stupid for doing it, but I learned to slow down shortly thereafter when I got a ticket for 97 in a 70. That wasn't much fun. For a mile though on the interstate, I'm showing .9 or so when it is actually a mile. Kind of confusing. I calculated that in terms of revolutions per mile based on the two tire sizes, and came up with like 108.6944 or something like that for every 100 miles it shows on the odometer. |

97 in a 70 zone isn't that bad. Now getting 2 tickets (one for 96 in a 25 and one for 82 in a 25) in two weeks and having to go to court for them. Now that's fun stuff there |

Eric, hopefully not in the same location in two weeks. If so, where you just trying to prove a point? by flying through a second time Yeh, 96 in a 25 I think would possibly land you in jail, even 82 in a 25 for that matter.. later |

sort of the same area.. Two different streets running next to each other. No, just thick headed some times. I always drove like that every where. I had that foot meet floor driving style. I got lucky in court and only had to pay 50 bucks and 35 dollar court fees for each.. 6 points on my licence each time though. This was years and years ago.. Oh, and that was just the start too.. I have since changed my vehicle to some thing that just can't go that fast unless pushed off a cliff. However, I'm thinking about picking me up one of the Track Editions of the new 350Z or a Vette in the next 3 years once the big slow green thing is paid off. |

Don't know about a D1, but if you upgrade a D2 from stock 255/65/16 (or whatever it is) to 235/85/16 tires, your speedo will be off. Mine is reading about 8% slow with my 235/85/16 GY MTR's. I have been able to confirm this via both GPS and Police Speed Reading Stations. |

I get about the same with the same size tires. Although last week coming across Washington with a 20-30MPH head wind for 190 miles got me about 10MPG. Yuck. I hit 13.7 this last tank and was ecstatic. :-) |

On the same stretch of the road, that is, I70 between Green River and Beaver, UT, both times going westbound, I've seen the lowest and highest gas mileage numbers ever. The lowest was just under 10mpg (ran out of gas 15mi away from the nearest gas station, it was fun climbing to the iced over roof rack for the can), the highest was 19mph. Both times, running about 70mph, but the first time - against 35-40mph headwind with snow and rain. on the speed/odometer issue, with stock Michelins my speedo is about 7% lower than actual speed, while odometer is spot on. with 245/75s, speedo is just right, and odometer is about 7% short. peter |

So how many miles do you guys get per tankful? I get between 245 and 255 mi/tankful. I also have 235/85-16 BFG M/Ts. BTW, did any of you get 'em cheap? I'm looking for a 5th for my spare wheel. Javier |

No dreamin muskyman, I didn't say I got to 147 in 10 seconds. That was literally the end all be all top speed of that vehicle before it exploded. Car&Driver listed top speed at 143 and I wanted to see if that was true. It was the first year of the latest body style which is now no longer. I surpassed the C&D stats but like I said, downhill, apparently with the wind at my back. I'm too damn old to lie about speeding in cars to try and impress people. 140 in a Disco would be another story.. which would end in saying, after driving off of the worlds tallest cliff, the Disco reached 140 mph.. Oh well, I'm tired.. Later.. RS |

147 isnt that fast. The real fun starts after 150. In my younger years I piloted a 94 pontiac trans-am to 157(and still going) on a crowded interstate. That got the heart pumping. In the 98 disco 100-110 feels real good, especially for a suv. Robert says 90 feels unnatural. Mine truck feels real solid at 90 and more. By the way, I have a clean driving record and I'm an insurance agent. Hehehe! Really. |

you're smoking, too. the 94 F-bodies were only good for around 275 HP stock. and if you've ever driven that speed before, you would know also that at a speed differential of ~90mph to other cars literally sitting still, the road you were couldn't be anything close to "crowded" . . . WTF?!! |

My 1990 Firebird Formula has a shut off at 120 or 125, can't remember exactly, but she won't allow any more than that. |

Keep in mind, there's a big difference between indicated speed and actual speed. I've had the '89 Volvo 240 wagon doing an indicated 200km/h but I doubt I was actually going that fast. I think factory top speed is 182km/h. |

My milage per tank has been 220 - 235 on Rover R/T 235/85r/16 on OME HD lift with ARB bumper, roof rack and Firestik antenna. That thing is 4' tall - gotta be hurting my milage somehow! 11 - 12 mpg, nice! Glad the prices are below $2 / gallon in the Bay Area finally - although I usually run mid-grade. e |

I feel lucky everytime the milage topic comes up. I get a solid 310 miles between fillups in my 96 Disco (95k miles, stock tire size). I could probably go 325 but the yellow light comes on around 300 and I don't feel like risking a walk. Our other vehicle is a 93 Saturn (220k miles) which gets about double the Disco's milage, so I guess as a family we balance out pretty reasonably in the end. Of course, this weekend I'm taking off my airdam so I'm going to completely trash the aerodynamics of the Disco and will probably drop down to what more of you experience. ;-) Lawrence [email protected] 96 Disco "Beowulf" NH, USA |
