Quick background: I'm about to put some OME HDs on my 96 Disco. At this time I do not have a rack and am still on a stock bumper; but bumper / rack are coming. I do load up the inside of the rig pretty heavy when camping, etc. I ride primarily in New Hampshire / Vermont / Maine and most of that is trail or stream bed thru woods. Even with rocks and such I don't drop a tire very often or very far.

My question deals w/ the brake lines. I have seen recomendations to extend the brake lines when adding lift and I do plan to do so. However, I had not planned on making that change for a few months still since I believe there are people running similar lift w/ stock lines. Are the longer brake lines mandatory for the fairly tame lift of HD springs? If they are just "recommended" how strongly (ASAP vs. when you get a chance)

advTHANKSance!!!

If you keep your factory shocks when you go to the heavier springs, you will be ok. However, when you upgrade your shocks it may allow for more travel than your stock lines will handle. I would suggest that you upgrade the two together(shocks and brake lines).

Lawrence, I have a DII, but from what I have heard and read, the OME shocks are only about 1" longer than stock. Since it's the shocks that will determine how much travel you get, I personally don't think you would need longer lines. The OME shocks simply won't allow your suspension to max out and stretch your lines.

Lawrence:
I've got HD OEM and bilsteins so my experience wont be the same as yours, however, next time you have it up on a lift, with wheels free take a look at the brake lines since the suspension merely hangs there. One mine front is fine, rear is just long enough.
