O.K - so I've had to give up. I needed to replace the water pump, but I can't get the fan/viscous unit off the front of the pump - I tried the left/right thread bit. It's stuck either way. Any clues before I trailer it down to the local dealer and have them fix it? |

I had the same problem. You need to turn the fan/viscous towards the passenger side of the vehicle, and I'll tell you right now it VERY HARD to break loose. It took me under the Disco with a large screwdriver wedged in between those 4 small bolts pulling as hard as I could, and my friend with a huge adjustable wrench pushing off on the passenger side tire to break it loose. Once you get it loose though its easy from there on out. |

After three beers and a bunch of cussing, I took it to the local parts/machine shop. They had it off in 5 mins flat. I was so happy, I gave the guy more than he asked for doing it!! Moral to the story, you gotta have the right gear to do the job...... |
