Headlight came loose when washing it last weekend. Didn't want to make matters worse, so I just took a peek to see what the problem was and it looks as if there's a plastic sleeve that may be stretched. It's staying in place, but I don't want to end up with my headlight as roadkill. Is this a dealer fix or can I take care of it?

If this is a D2 or if the D1 is anything like the D2 you can just "pop" it back in place. There is a grommet that the lower portion of the headlight goes into. I once found that the light came off the grommet and just needed a slight push with the side of my fist and it's held since.

I had a 97 DI that had the same problem after I struck a deer, thank God for the brush guard. Really like the previous entry said just pop it back in

if the grommets are cracked or broken it will stay loose. just order a new one and it will take all of 5 min to replace. i always carry spares of them with me. at some point you bump something or something bumps you and you need one. or someone else will.

 Exactly what Garrett said
Parts man at the dealer here actually gave me two of them. He pulled them off of an old headlight. Usually they are a few bucks each, two screws and about 3 minutes of your time.. Peace..R S |
