Driveshaft coating

Schram (Paulschram) Posted on Tuesday, August 06, 2002 - 03:53 pm:    Does anybody know what that stuff is that LR puts on the splined end of the driveshafts, and what its purpose is? It looks like wax (waxoyl?), but is far too hard to remove. I had one seize up due to this stuff hardening up and I'm debating if I should remove it from the driveshaft I'm working on. Any suggestions for removing it? Paul
