Did you expect her to be impressed?

Mine now just rolls her eyes when I tell her of an adventure that didn't turn catastrophic. And we've only been married two weeks tomorrow.

Now, go out 'wheeling and impress her with what your truck will now do!

Peace,
Paul

I think you're meant to impress them somewhere else than the truck guys...c'mon now!

Impressing a woman usually means taking your wallet out, turning it upside down and shaking everything out into her hands. Cars impressing a woman? Grasshopper, you have more to learn...

Not always true...I am a girl and I am really impressed with trucks and off-roading...and one other thing. I don't care much for money or fast cars. But what I really like to hear is "let's take YOUR Rover off-roading this weekend, honey. Oh, and I'll pay for gas."

Will you marry me - I seem to meet your qualifications. I have no money and a POS range rover and will always want to take your rover offroading ( cause mine usually has serious issues ;) and I have enough spare change in my supersized Corona plastic change bottle in my apt., which has little furniture but lots and lots of rover parts, to by us many gallons of gas. Come on let's do it!! wait - I have to see you drive first... you see I have standards too.

heh heh heh ..
Have a great day guys and gals its almost Saturday -

"no, i'd much rather be with you than go offroading"

Tom, we can work on that a little. "No, I'd rather be with you and go offroading together". Getting her to come along is one thing. Getting her excited about spotting is something entirely different.

JMcD, I thiink you could try something else to impress her, maybe do an engine swap :)

Very nice...shun me because my fiance is a j**per. LOL! He really truly wanted a Defender, but cost was an issue. At least it's somewhat of a step up from his old Dodge Neon. Maybe a little 4X4 envy because I drove the bigger truck? I dunno. Regardless, mine is still bigger than his.

And silly JB, I am sure you have high standards for your women, but we both know that spare change would never cover the cost of gas for a Rover. LOL

Saturday is definitely rover day for me. It's time to do some good maintenance in the great weather down here in MD.

I want to take a GWNF trip in April and I'll get some pics then. I've never been there. With me,this Disco has really only seen a couple of light trails and lots and lots and lots of sand. With the previous owner, it has seen much, so I still have lots to learn about driving it. (I used to own a F*rd Bronco II that I used to take out from time to time, but much different and of a "lighter" caliber LOL).

Then I will also add pics when I do all my mods in July for the before and after effect. If anyone feels like helping me install my lift in July, speak up!

I'm cute and smart ( sez the current girlfriend, she's blind through inbreeding though) and I applied for a Texaco card last night!!! I will wait for you to see the light and dump the j**pr guy. Wouldn't you rather live in the south, near Tellico and the best trails around.... heck you could just become bi
(coastal that is..north and south...) and have us both. I'm all about some sharing..

Please know I mean no offense Joanna ;) ..just lighhearted bbs goofiness.. time to fix my rotors and hit the trails because as we all know...

With that Texaco card, I may just have to change my mind. Just kidding. You'll find the perfect woman someday.

hmmm..me thinks the trick is a screening process...you have to be selective right off...find the ones that ASK to spot for you and THEN proceed...A GWNF trip in april?
would this be a group opportunity? Could be fun.

obviously joanna you did not see the movie Cherry 2000. this guy was in search of his past girlfriend that was a sort of 'man made' woman. she was perfect and was great looking!!! was a stupid movie, but i still watch the damn thing when it's on encore. oh well.
i guess i will just stick to hanging out at the penn state bars looking for 'the one', since you distroyed my idea of 'mail order' ladies. and i was just getting good at speaking russian!!! damit!!!

Heh heh,

It's not bookmarked. It came up in a thread on another board. It's one of those things that even though you want to, after you looked you just couldn't forget it..... but, if you can't forget it, then instead you give it to someone who can use it..... (don't blow too much money there, Garrett.....)

Out west, maybe.

Here in the Appalachians, there's a still in every holler, w' a barefoot 16-year old daughter in every cabin, who's been waitin' for someone not kin to come by....

No wonder it takes forever to fieldmap a quad in these parts....

damn, I obviously didn't spend enough time mapping the Apps....deep in the fields out here in the west there is NOTHING (unless, of course, you think ahead like I did and rig the field partner selection process so that your girlfriend always ends up as your parnter...rock hammer, brunton, sample bag, clipboard, blanket, wine, cheese....)

Kayaking was so 80s, and then canoeing came back for the 90s, so now kayaking is back....

I knew you were referring to the spray-skirt, it's just when you saw that a guy can't wear a skirt, the kilt-thing popped to mind...

And, actually....

I was on the Nolichucky in a funyak - not the inflatable thing... a shorter wider kayak - w/o a skirt. Actually, this was, oh, 15 years ago... I grew up canoeing, but hadn't been in a kayak before at that point...

Anyway, we're cruisin' along, and I say out loud to myself "I wonder if I could roll this thing?"

Susan, a very experienced kayaker who was paddling along w/ me, bet me dinner that I couldn't. So.....

Yep! I actually rolled the thing.... managed to get it over (which was hard, given it's width), and then popped on over, right back up.

Problem was, w/o a skirt, the thing had filled w/ water as I came up. I tried to make it to shore to dump it, but ended up with it flipping back over first....

At least she bought me dinner....

:)

yeah they have those things at ohiopyle too. they call them 'duckies' there. when i was there last my one buddy got one. they seem so unfair. they are so hard to flip. that's pretty good the you could roll that thing. they are pretty much flat on the bottom. open boats can be a bitch in big water.......once you get some water onboard it gets pretty sketchy. just bail what you can and keep paddling hard.

this is actually the easier section. the upper is class V+.

i wanna see that pic blue.

those single man duckies or "thrill seekers" are awsome fun.

i have been wanting to do that upper yough since they opened it back up. i know al hang was interested doing some paddling too.

maybe we could get a posse togther for may or june. i know a nice trail very close to ohiopyle,, thats my neck of the woods ya know.

sounds fine to me. if you are talking the upper then i am not considering using my mad river. the lower was rough enough in an open boat. the thrill seekers are way better than a raft too. rafts are slow and you have to deal with a bunch of cry babies half the time that either get too cold, wet or something.
best to check the release dates and try and go close to them. decent camping in the area too.
let me know anytime.
