While pulling out of a a parking spot yesterday, my steering seemed to freeze up. It felt like the power steering was gone and it was very difficult to turn. It was also accompanied by a loud "popping" sound. I immediately stopped and put the truck in park, and tried to pull out again with the same result. On try #3, the steering was normal. Anyone have an idea what might have caused this? I have a "01 D2 SD. Thanks |

When I go to pull out of parking spaces, I sometime get a grunting feedback when I'm turning the steering wheel. This grunt feels and sounds like...well it sounds like someone rolling their "Rs". It feels like the steering is stripped. I hope this has made sense. Anyone suffer from this? |

you are low on fluid when you get that grunting rrRRR sound the popping sound? hmm. check your fluid too, if it's stiff you are low, but you should have heard the RRRrrrRRR sound. could it have been an obsicle under the tire? i'd want to start inspecing the stearing linkage and PS drop arm, etc.. rd |

My '99 D2 started making some noises and I had reduced steering boost once in a while but it's all better now with a new belt. Never got any popping sounds. |
