I'm moving to Denver from Vail in 3 weeks. Know of any cool guys (or gals) that work on Rovers in that area??

Thanks

Safari 4X4 in Wheat Ridge. Did the clutch on my '95. They even tow in trucks that have problems (like mine!).

After this weekend I'll be the clutch guy (if I survive). I've a 94 Manual and will be swapping out the Transmission and doing the clutch. If I survive I'll let you know.
The local Dealers are expensive, good, but expensive. Not too many people around that are prepared to work on Rovers and if they are they will try to fleece you. Example I went to a local transmission shop and they wanted $1000 for the clutch kit alone!!!! Not including labor!!!
This is why I am doing this myself. Let me know if you find any good places though.

Doug,do you live in the Denver area? These guys are pretty good. $1800 incuded clutch, throw-out bearing, rear main seal, main crank bearings and rod bearings (129,000 mi. thought it was a good idea), resurfaced flywheel and all assorted seals and glue.Had the truck for 4 days though...kinda small shop and lots of business!! I think the price was fair considering the amount of labor involved.Oh, and they have Factory Trained Techs there....FWIW.

Safari 4x4 is OK and just OK. They get the job done but if you are looking for a fix to something quick my experience is you have to wait for parts all the time. And they have very little in the way of acssesories. Nice guys and they generaly know what they are doing. Honestly other then them...I'm sure there is a good shop attached to your house. HEHE!

Oh and the website has been like that for about 3 years.

Don't know anything about Safari 4x4, but Land Rover Denver South has some of the best techs in the country. They also have a huge parts inventory, and a very friendly and knowledgeable parts manager, who incidentally also is an enthusiast and a frequent poster on this site.

Didn't Rob take his Rover in there?? Think I remember (or possibly not) that he had some work done there and felt good about it.

Not sure about Rob, but they replaced Brian Jackson motor there when it blew on him on the way to Moab last year. He was pretty happy with the work they did.

Ok, I know that Craig works at Denver East but who works at Denver south?

Forget Denver East, they are not what they used to be. All of the best people from East have moved over to Denver South. I think the only good person left at East is Craig Highland. Besides, Denver East has pissed me and a few of my friends off too many times. FWIW they are both owned by the same company http://www.pioneercentres.com/ .

If you go to South ask to have Rob Dassler work on your Rover. He is by far the best tech in the country.

If you want to try someone else besides the dealership I would recommend Cold War Remarketing located on US 85 south of C470. Their web site is http://www.coldwarremarketing.com . They service Pinzgauers and Unimogs, what their web site doesn't tell you is that they service Rovers as well. At real world prices. Ask for Dennis. He used to service Rovers in the Middle East.

I second JWhite's post. Denver South is awsome (for a dealer) and I thought Axel was talking about Linda. She is the service manager at south, she is great. If you want a dealer I recommend Denver South!

I haven't dealt with Denver South, but I am sure they are great, too. My experience has been with Craig when I came through and needed parts, and, he was very helpful. He has been helpful via emails, as well.

Dave's European Auto isn't bad either. He used to be at Denver East, then left to set up his own shop. FWIW.

Well team, I would agree that the Denver South and Denver East shops are very knowledgeable and usually get it fixed first time. They will certainly get your problems handled but the cost is a real pain!!!

PS I finished the Transmission swap I mentioned earlier. New transmission, clutch, throwout bearing etc. All for under $2k. If I can do it (with help from a good friend) then anyone out there can.
Save yourselves some cash and do it yourselves, it's rewarding in the end.
