I searched the site and didn't really find anything, so I'm posting a message here. I'm looking to buy a 96-97 OBD2 Disco. I know the basic mechanical differences, but cosmetically, what is the difference between 94-99 series 1 discos? This is a 98 Disco with the grill and bumper the same color as the body, along with chrome trim. Was the 98 model the first to have this or could you get body matched bumpers and grill on a 96-97? I really like the style of it. -Matt http://ebay-images.autotrader.com/images/auction/2002/08/06/7191304/03_SALJY1240WA750528_1028658357440.jpg |

Matt, looks like you're looking at the '98 LSE model, which has the color-keyed end caps/air dam/grill & chrome bumper. Underneath the paint it's the same plain black plastic as any '95-'99 D1. Any body shop can easily paint those parts to match using the vehicle's factory paint code(badge under the hood). Cost should be no more than $200 - $300. Add a few hundred dollars more if you want the bumper chromed as well. I personally would just save the money and have the bumper painted as well...Good luck! |
