Need some help here diagnosing an ongoing ignition problem. The truck's a '94 with about 80K on it, this problem has been going on literally for 2 years. Symptoms are that when the truck is hot, it'll cut out and not restart for 15 minutes or so until it's cooled off. When this occurs, there's no spark. Fuel pressure is fine. Following is what's been done to try and remedy this, both by me and by (more recently) the dealer (who is now throwing up his hands): ECU (used, but good) All relays and fuses related to the both fuel and ingnition Coil x2 with the terminals converted to ring connectors Ignition module relocation kit x2 plugs wires distributor base plate and pickup ballast resistor MAF cleaned, and a new one subsitituted Most recently (last week) the relocation kit was done for the second time along with the base plate and pickup, which helped considerably, but the problem is still occuring. It seems as though something's cooking in there, but what could it be? Maybe the voltage regulator in the alternator? Thanks for any advice, Tony |
