The ignition coil was starting to go on my 95 rover so i figured i would replace it...... well i took out the old one put in a new one and low and behold i notice that the wires that attach to the top of the ignition coil have black and white boots. i am assuming that mean positive and negative. i attached the wires to the top (there are a total of 4 wires. those 4 or then divided in to 2 wires w/ a similar connector) of the coil and the car starts.. so everything seems ok. i just want to make sure the polarity doesnt have to do w/ anything... i know this is vague but its late on the east coast.. any help is appreciated |

If it starts..your good. Untrue, I am not sure about V8s but you can wire a series coil backward and it will still run, but this is not good as it puts out less volts or some such nonsense. Could be different on a V8. anyone . . . Ron |

If you orientated the coil side by side to the original, and moved the wires over one by one to the equivalent spot on the new unit, you should be fine. |

Also - coil should have +/- stamped in the top at each terminal. Bill |

Series have computer controlled fuel injection? News to me. If you get the wiring reversed you can ruin your ignitor in a hurry. His disco is running so he got it right. |

I got the pluse and minuse thing right b/c the plus and minus have distinct terminals that can only connect one way. but for each +/- there are 2 wires.. i was wondering if they had an specific order... |
