The rubber/bushing in my rotoflex (...vomit...) is showing signs of wear. Apparently this piece of poop costs $114 and change. Anyone know where to get it cheaper? Better yet, can someone point me in the direction of a conversion to a U-Joint? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think $114 is for the kit with new bolts and bearing for the end of the driveshaft. (There are more pieces than just the Rotoflex involved.) The rotoflex itself is also used on Jaguar XJ6 and possibly some BMW. $45 is a price that comes to mind. Check with Nathan...
Now labor, that is more than $114....

$62 from Nathan. not a fun job is the bolts don't want to come out. i usually end up with bloody knuckles and some choice words.

I haven't found this to be a difficult project. Use ample amounts of your favorite penetrant.

As for sources for the entire kit, all of the UK suppliers supply the entire kit, rather than just the rotoflex itself. Tell them you want the OEM LR kit and you'll get at least some of the bolts, the roto-flex, and the bushing that goes in the end of the driveshaft.

One note though. If you're going to replace your rotoflex, do the u-joint too, and pay close attention to the sliding splined joint as they can seize.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE RUBBER/METAL BUSHING INSIDE THE PROP SHAFT/ROTOFLEX UNLESS IT IS REALLY BUSTED UP. You will be sorry if you do, it is harder than it looks. Most of the time you don't have to replace that part.

Easy. Spend $40.00 more and get a slightly used Range Rover drive shaft from Rover Clubhouse for $150.00 + shipping. Get the flange too. I'm doing the changeover this weekend with Matt Moe. We'll take photo's and post it next week in the Tech section.

Just swapped my rotoflex yesterday on a neigbor's parallel lift. It was done in fifteen minutes!

My old coupling had several shallow cracks in the rubber between the holes. I think that there has been a large reduction in vibration through all speeds - am I imagining this?

after taking my rotoflex off this weekend to swap the rear drive shaft for a U joint version it was visibly messed up only after 3 months. cracked and small threads coming out of its guts. just glad this time i am not replacing the roto with another roto. it will now become a dog toy.

I made a tool to pull the center pin out of the pinion flange out of a Harmonic Balance puller. It uses the flange of the puller which matches the holes in the driveshaft flange very nicely,no beating or jerking with a slide hammer.
