My 95 D1 with 80,000 miles has started howling like a banshee this past year. The howling is accompanied by substantial power loss. I used to notice this condition on really cold (20 degree) mornings, but it would go away within 3 or 4 minutes. Now it's doing it 80% of the time. Can this be something to do with the stepper motor? Or some sort of temperature sensor? Any suggestions greatly appreciated since the LR dealer says they can't find anything wrong. Mike g. |

How about fan clutch stuck on. Sounds like a turbine when it does. Does it spin free when cold? It should Ron |

Ron, Sounds like that is worth checking. I'll have a look at it in a few days (dealer still has it trying to pinpoint my oil leaks). Would a stuck fan clutch have anything to do with lack of power? Mike g. |
