97, D1. I was trying to clean some unknown sticky substance out of the cupholder and yanked it out. Now, I cannot get it back in. It appears that I lost a tiny gear on the left track. How can I get this thing back in. I iamgine some daylight would help to see the problem. Should I cover the hole with duct tape? Is this fixable? |

IF it's like my 95 its a 50$ part from BritishAtlantic. 4 screws hold it in although its bigger than you'd think. About a 10 minute job. |

My 5 year old yanked mine out a few months ago and I wrestled with it for a while and finally I just slid it back in without the gears and it works just fine without them, just doesn't slowly slide out like before when you push it in, I also left the spring out so now I just pull it out manually and it's fine. I could have made it work but some of the teeth on my gears broke off so it would get misaligned each time you moved it in and out. Shane |

With daylight on my side, I got it back in minus one gear. It seems to work fine though it takes a few pushes to get it to stay in. I was trying to avoid the $50 part issue. I had to tell my wife that it is simply not safe to drink and drive. |
