Up untill now I have had no starting probs at all. Today got in my 96 d1 started fine went to get my morning coffee, when I attempted to start it I turned the key but nothing happened, tried again this time it tried to star but didnt, tried again this time it started but I had to step on the gas to get it to turn over. What could it be? What should I look for? Thanks in advance. Eric |

Changing the fuel filter can't be any easier. Maybe, the only difficult part will be getting the nuts to un-seize. Spray some WD-40 all over the two muts on either side of the filter, walk away for awhile. On my 98 DI, the filter is located on the frame right behind the rear right wheel, a silver canister with lines on either end. I bought the part from a local parts store (not even a Land ROver part) for maybe 10 bucks. Literally just unscrew the lines on either end and screw them back into the new filter. I would do it one line at a time to not put them in backwards. Secure the filter back into the bracket that secures it, tighten down the screws TIGHTLY, run the truck to see if any fuel is leaking. Don't worry about depressurizing the fuel. NEVER had to do it before and I have changed my filters many times. You MIGHT get a bit of fuel that leaks down, but it will evaporate in seconds. |
