What is the biggest size tire I can fit to stock 16 inch wheels on a 1999 Series 1 SD? The vehicle has not and will not be lifted.

I ran 245/75R16 tires on my unlifted '99 SD.... I did a very little amount of trimming on the back of the rear wheelwells that was unnoticable unless it was pointed out to someone.... it's possible to flip a bracket and push the rear quarter out a bit w/o trimming (see the tech section for an article on it).

235/85R16 will fit the stock wheels, but, you'll have rubbing over speedbumps, etc., if you don't have a little lift at least.... springs are easy enought to swap to gain the lift needed.

But, if swapping in springs isn't an option, stick with the 245/75, and get out the tin snips.....

Or, stay with the stock size, and see what it can do w/o bigger tires..... :)
