I need to make a copy of an original key for my 1999 Series 1 SD. Are the keys available at hardware stores fine or should I avoid them? Is there a particular brand that I should look for? |

If you can wait, get it from Rover Connections. I was in the same boat a few weeks ago and only had one key when I bought my '99 D1. I opted not to wait (I don't like not having a spare) and went to the dealer. $22 later I had a spare. Insane. Todd |

I bought my spare key at True Value and had it cut for just over $2.00 (96D1). Works fine. I thought that was so great I came home and posted on this bulletin board about it but noone seemed interested. |

You would be better off to go to the Dealership and have them run your VIN to get the key code and have a more correct key.Its not expensive... |
