I've decided to break down and buy a code scanner. As I don't own one and have only observed others using them, I'm curious to hear other's impressions about those they might have. I'm looking for a stand-alone unit as the lap-top is not always immediately available to me. Yes, I did a search and didn't find a whole lot. Thanx, Paul |

Buy a really cheap laptop (P1 will be more then fine) and the cable off the internet. You will get alot of information from the http://www.obd-2.com/ interface. I am really happy with mine. And the writer of the program has a rover file so it tells you what the code means. Very nice setup. JK |

I'd second Jeremy. The OBD-2 software is pretty complete and allows for saving of data, so you can trend how your engine is running and see if things are slowly going south. Plus it's nice to have a little more information available before going into the dealer. check on eBay for cheap laptops http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2045869475 pwc |
