Am considering getting rid of the 16" Goodyear Wrangler std. tires which are noisy and clearly NOT the right tire for my DII in favor of 18" Hurricane wheels....what tires would you recommend I fit on these rims...car is used on road only.

Umm, you don't have much of a choice when it comes to those rims. You have the Goodyear tires and pirelli's. Beyond that, I think your stuck. Try plugging the tire size with rim in tirerack.com and see what it comes back with.

I say stick with the 16" rims and get some 245/75/16. But that's just my opinion.

Pete,
I have the stock Goodyears on my DII (18") and on the road, I love them...quite, smooth, and with ACE great handling.
But as Dave mentioned, I'm not happy about the lack of selection or price of these tires when it's time to replace them.

...and off road, they are only good on sand.
Again, I realy like them, but when the time comes for tires, I might do the 16" switch.

You can also get Michelin Synchrone in 18" - IMHO a much better tire than the Goodyear....

FWIW

I'm in VA. Since you are both in the same state go for it. If not, I'm still looking for a second set of 16" wheels to trade for my 18".

Keep the 16" rims. Slightly softer ride. You'll also have more rubber between the rim and the terrain. Better for flexing and airing down.
