I want to sell my Rover so I am requesting some input from my fellow Rover owners.

I have a FULLY loaded stock 1998 D1.

Will not find a cleaner and better running Discovery. White with tan leather.

Only has 57,000 miles on it (about 14,000/year).

I live in southern California.

I want to sell it and get a newer one.

Any suggestions as to what i should be asking and what I should take?

I just bought a '99 D1 with similar mileage. No sunroofs but it did have running boards, brush guard with lights, and rear light guards. No dents, dings, scratches (yet). All service done by LR dealer.

Sorry to ruin your day but I paid $16,900.

Why would that ruin my day? Sounds like you got a REALLY good deal, and that would depnd upon where you live.

I've seen significant price differences between identical Rovers depending on what region it's in.

Here, it appears a Disco I like mine is in a range of $17k to $20k. Even Kelly Blue Book has it at ~$17,900.

I was thinking I would ask for $18k because here, where I live THAT would be a STEAL. I just want to pay off the loan and upgrade.

Thanks for the response.

If you want to make some money on it ship it up here to the Northwest. There is a shortage of them since they doubled the number of Starbucks coffee houses in the area. Land Rovers fetch a premium. I just got damn lucky. The guy who sold it to me (auto broker) happened to be looking for a certain spec'd Dodge truck for his friend (which I happen to be trading in). Bye-bye POS Dodge...

Similar trucks to mine sell for $18-21K in the NW. It's just silly...

I bought a 97 Discovery SD, with 89K on it for $8995 from a dealer in Austin.

If $18K is a steal down there it's closeto the same up here. Check out the Seattle Times Classifieds
http://classifieds.nwsource.com/auto/auto_findit_search?make=Land+Rover&new=f&order=year
for some idea.

I'd suggest finding one in good shape from back east if you want to save money. I was in Manheim, PA last week and the auto auction there had litteraly 60-80 discos lined up. And there a lot of lots back there.

If you look at the KBB for a private party sale of your 98 in either CA or WA, it shows about $20K. If you pick PA, it's $1K less. Sell here, buy there.
