The wife bent the front bumper on our 95 Disco. Probably gonna buy an ARB. Will I need to upgrade my suspension to support the new front bumper? I don't expect to ever install a winch. I see there are airbag and non-airbag versions. Any input on which is "better"? |

Just fyi if you get the air bag compliant one your not going to be able to easily use a hi lift jack. The non air bag bumper does allow the use of a jack. |

Tomo, "Will I need to upgrade my suspension to support the new front bumper?" No, you shouldn't need suspension changes when installing a bumper only. "I don't expect to ever install a winch." never say never.....the price of the bumpers are very close with or without winch setup and a front license plate can cover the fairlead cutout if you do not have a winch installed. Do some searches here on discoweb for the air bag va non air bag discussion. It has been discussed a lot. John '97 Disco, non-airbag ARB warn 12000 |

John (or anybody), Is there a difference between the winch and non-winch versions regarding shape of the bumper...Does the winch version stick out farther than the non-winch version? |

Had the same problem, wife bent my bumper also. I went with the TJM bumper. Turned out very nice. I like it a lot better then the ARB. As far as the set up, you get rid of the stock crush cans, and mount directly to the frame. The TJM bumper has it's own crush cans built into the bumper. As far as suppension, I have not upgraded mine yet. But I am this weekend. You don't have to. You will notice a little sluggish compared to with stock bumper. The shop told me they measure the d2 before and after the install, and the front dropped 1 inch. It is not noticeable when looking at the vehicle. Bottom line, go with the TJM, and you can run the stock suppension. Tom |

I would have to say, yes there is a difference in the bumpers size. I know the non-airbag bumper sticks out (forward) a bit more than the airbag bumper. That being said, I would assume that the airbag winch bumper, and the non-winch versions are the same in size. The non-airbag bumper holds the winch hight, and has fitting for a roller fairlead to be supported from side to side pulls. The airbag version appears to hold the winch lower, and the fairlead is supported from under the bumber. Also, as pointed out with the TJM, the ARB non-airbag winch bumper attaches to the frame rails directly, no crush cans. |

so much for the ARB. Insurance isn't paying what I was expecting, so I can't afford it. (Unless somebody has one sitting around that they want to get rid of, that is). Guess I'd better post this over on the "wanted" section, huh? |

Tom, e-mail me off-list. I know someone with a non-winch ARB that may be interested in getting rid of it. |
