Hey Roverites,

I did a search, but I didn't really find an answer, so...

My red Service Engine light came on about 2 days after I lost my exhaust from the muffler back. Put on a Borla and everything is groovy now. I'm assuming the light came on as a result of the missing exhaust, and just needs to be reset. (Yes?)

My question is where the hell is the reset and how do I reset it??

94 Di auto - 129,000 with a full tune up done at 127,000. Runs fine, although still getting a little hot when offroading.

Many thanks in advance...

Chuckster

PS... I may be flying over for the Peterborough, U.K. LR show in September - anyone else going???

for the 94, there should be a little box under your passenger seat with a Land Rover sticker on top. If it has been reset before, there will be a little hole in the sticker going into the box. If not, take a paper clip, find where the hole is and stick the paper clip through the sticker down to the bottom of the box. should reset the light. might need to jiggle the paper clip around a bit to make the connection and clear the light.

my technical lingo ain't so good :)

Robbie,

Many thanks, man!

I am a tech writer, and yes, jiggling is an accepted description ;)

I'll give it a shot...

Thanks again,
Chuckster

Rob,

Found it and reset it - looks like it had been done before.

Great design, huh? "OK, let's put the reset in a really obscure place so that it is impossible to actually see the light you are trying to reset..."

Typical Lucas crap.

Many thanks, now if I could just get that damn ABS light to go out!!! SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOO tired of looking at that stupid amber warning!

Ariel,

No, on an '01 D2, instead of two lights, they have been combined into one one. You will need someone with an OBD-II reader to see why your light is on.

Good luck,

I hope im not damaging anything .I have been running the D2 for about 4000+ miles.Actually I am not noticing anything wrong w/ the D2 performance. I wonder if there is any relation after I switch to synthetic oil and K&N filter on my 6000 miles oil change.

Ariel,

I don't know if Seattle has 'em, but if you go to an Advance or an AutoZone parts store, they should have a OBD-II code reader that they could tell you what the code is for free.

You can see a list of the codes here: http://www.spanishtrailrovers.com/Tech/Info/OBDII_Scan_Codes/obdii_scan_codes.html

Good luck!
