Has anyone noticed any vibrations or resonance caused by their roof racks? Could this cause a vibration that would translate through the steering or front end? I've noticed that since the addition of my rack it seems to vibrate more. It depends on the wind and speed. Am I totally nuts? I know that I could experiment by taking off the rack but I'm a lazy bastard. I've had the tires load balanced and all of the suspension checks out. It feels like the rolling RRRRRRRRRRR-(sounds like rolling your tongue). It does it half of the time. That makes me think that it could be the wind buffeting the rack and transferring this down through the pillars. There is no loss of power just a vibe. Usually around 65-75 mph. Thanks for your feedback.

Jack,

I would inspect every mount in which your rack is attached to the gutter. Check for tightness of every bolt and hex head screw. Then check the integrity of the gutter itself.

Well , there is gonaa be some resonance from the wind rolling over that rack. The airplane dude there should be all too familliar with it... Dont let him convince you into shodding it with a Titanium skin though.... :)

The rack is tight. Again, I had the tires load balanced.

Damn,

Slap a Government spec number on that, and I can sell it for at $25K.

Jack, are your gutters still intact. I am talking cracks that can open up in the slipstream. Kyle, slipstream is the air that flows past you while driving :)

I apologize to KJ for wasting his time and mine by asking a real question.
Guess I'll go to the General board next time or maybe I'll ask the dog.
Cheers

Sorry Jack. It's Friday and I've been in one of those moods today. I think the blame is mine on this one!

I've had a D2 Adventure Rack on my D1 for a year now and have not experienced steering vibrations due to the rack - as far as I can tell. The biggest drawback of the rack is the insane wind noise at 80mph (forget opening the sunroofs) and the inability to enter the local mall parking lot (aw shucks).

Jack, don't be cranky, I was making a joke. Did you miss my :)? Reference to a very old thread that had a funny subject header. Have a lager or whatever floats your boat, and enjoy your weekend.

Karen, here ya go :)
